The American Intro Song to Sonic X is the Quenchiest

Do ya'll remember Sonic X?

It was a bad show on 4Kids starring Sonic the Hedgehog. The voice acting was weak (and also very racist), the show's plots were Pokémon anime levels of brain-dead, and none of the characters were likeable. Except maybe... Hmmm, Knuckles, who really just wanted to be left the hell alone the whole time. I dig Knuckles.

BUT WHO CARES?! The show makes for great background TV, mostly because the intro song, Gotta Go Fast, is awesome.

No, not the unused song originally written to be the main theme for the Sonic the Hedgehog moive ya' silly goose, I'm talking about this one:

Go, g-go, g-go, go, go
Gotta go fast
Gotta go fast
Gotta go faster, faster, faster, faster, faster
Moving at the speed of sound (make tracks)
Quickest hedgehog around
Got ourselves a situation
Stuck in a new location
Without any explanation
No talk of relaxation
Don't, don't, don't, don't
Don't blink
Don't think
Just go go go go, g-g-g-go, go
N-n-n-n-n-n-na
N-n-n-n-n-n-na
Sonic is on the run
Sonic, he's number one
Sonic, he's coming next
So watch out for Sonic X
Gotta go fast, Sonic
Gotta go fast, Sonic
Gotta go faster, faster, faster, faster, faster
Go, g-go, g-go, go go go go
Sonic X
Gotta go faster
Gotta go fast
Gotta go faster, faster, faster, faster
Sonic X

It could be that only in contrast with the actual show is the song worth a listen, but I can't get enough. That's it. That's all that I really wanted to say. Speaking of contrast, by the way, the Sonic X is on Netflix right now, so if you've already finished your rewatch of Avatar The Last Airbender ohhhhh boy. Strap in.

You know your kids show is in trouble when you have to edit bat tiddies to look smaller and edit scenes showing guns because American kids, of all kids, shouldn't develop acknowledgement that big bat breasts and guns exist in America God forbid. Worse yet, they had the same guy who voiced Eggman put on a 90s comedy routine Hispanic woman accent and voice Ella. And, like, they were serious too, it wasn't ironic or anything.

It'll be like going from a perfect day at the beach to getting waterboarded. Probably. I haven't experienced either of those things, so if you've been waterboarded be sure to comment, like, and share this post.

Fun Facts

  • Both Avatar the Last Airbender and Sonic X are rated TV-Y7 and released within 2 years of each other. Let that sink in.
  • The voice actor of Eggman, Mike Pollock, also voiced the brown skinned, Mr. Popo lipped character Ella using a voice perfect for an early 00's comedy routine. And, like, they were serious too, it wasn't ironic or anything.

There aren't many fun facts about Sonic X, my dudes.
