Baby Optimus Prime is the Perfect Size to Play with in School, During your Eviction Hearing, or Church

All 3 sublines of the the Transformers War for Cybertron toy line has been killer if you didn’t know. There was Siege, then Earthrise, and now Kingdom. Kingdom is unique in that the toys are hitting shelves during the Beast Wars’ cartoon 25th anniversary and we fans didn’t get many Beast Wars toys over those 25 years. The ones we did get were complete garbage.

That’s important when talking about Core Class Optimus Prime, because he’s a baby version of the previous Leader Class Earthrise Optimus Prime, neither of which were not in the Beast Wars cartoon.

I had no point other than anger for Hasbro. Anger that they rather sell us yet another Optimus Prime instead of newer versions of more BW characters. I mean, I know we’re getting more BW characters soon, but this Baby Optimus could’ve been replaced by who knows what other BW bot was left on the cutting room floor. Yeah, sure, there’ll be a just fine Netflix show to coincide with the figures and they’ll use time travel to have Optimus Prime palling around with Optimus Primal, but still. Boo.

Boooooo. That's not even 60% of my Optimus Prime toys from the last 10 years. Anyway, let's move the hell on.

Y’all know me, I like my toys small and compact so I knew I'd like this tiny Optimus from the get-go.

The more discreet, the better, I say.

Just like every Studio Series and War for Cybertron figure I’ve reviewed, Baby Optimus displays a clean vehicle mode and detailed robot mode with all of the articulation you could want from a main line toy. To think that this tiny figure costs less than a Chicken Express 10 piece tender combo is astounding.

Comparing him to the similarly sized legends Optimus Prime from 2011 just feels unfair, but it does perfectly display how far toy design has come.

One clearly looks like G1 Optimus Prime and the other looks like a bad cosplay of movie Optimus Prime.

Core class Optimus Prime maintains all of the things that makes current figures great even at his small size, even if it’s placement in Kingdom doesn’t make much sense. He does have some kibble in robot mode that kinda ruins his robot silhouette, but hey, he's 10 bucks. He’d make a wonderful gift to those with a casual enjoyment of Transformers or for those that appreciate small, fiddle friendly figures for funsies.
