Top 5 Best Things You'll LOVE About Modern Warfare

As is tradition, I present to you, dearest Infini-knights (lol oh lawd), my Call of Duty Modern Warfare review in two parts. In this first part, I cover what I think you'll like most about Modern Warfare, and you can guess what the second part is about.
Upfront, I'm pleased to say that Modern Warfare maintains COD's classic, delicious gunplay that is arguably second-to-none in the arena style first-person shooter world. Appreciate the variety of weaponry, attachments, graphical effects, smoothness of movement and you'll understand. If you don't, then a fire-breathing shotgun just might help.
Yeah, it's not a perfect, but the way it feels to play makes up for it's faults for most people who enjoy military flavored shootin' games. Alright, let's get into the specifics.

1. Guuuuunsmith

I've written about this before but it’s worth repeating how awesome it is. Where previous games would, for example, offer an M4 to customize with different sights, mags, and barrels, MW more closely mimics real life in that the M4 is a weapons platform with different variants designed for different roles on the battlefield.

So, you can slap a sight on the all 'rounder M4A1 and call it a day, or you can add the correct combo of barrels, stocks, and mags to create the M16A4, M4 Commando, and a DD M4 SLW.

That M4 SLW, by the way, is a highly specific, M4 based weapon that only gun nuts would know about, but I appreciate the parts are in the game to make it.

And you can do this with almost all the multiplayer weapons, too. It's a boon for dorks like me that love getting way-into this kinda stuff. but you don't have get super-into it if you don't want to. If all you wanna do are 360 degree no-scopes all day long then you can make weapons specifically for that. Cool.

2. Graphics Look Really Good

Of course, this game looks bomb, they always do. Some character models have weird chipmunk faces and the color pallet is pretty dark, but hey, it looks realistic enough as you'll see in the screenshots and videos throughout this review. The only problem is that HDR calibration is pretty poor in that some super-dark scenes are just too dark even when your TV and game are properly set.
I wouldn't hold that against 'em too much since HDR TV's have only recently become commonplace, but I wouldn't be fair if I pretended it doesn't affect gameplay when it most certainly does.

Oh well, they'll get it right next time I'm sure. There'll be plenty of more clips in this 2 part review so you can take in the beauty.
3. Warzone is Awesome Even Though I Normally Dislike Battle Royale

I love how with this release, COD looked to other franchises for things to copy because the results are great. Ground War is one example in that it's huge map with multiple capture points is a worse-but-still-fun version of Battlefield's conquest mode.

The little-bird has no gattling gun but you can grind people into a red mist and that's kinda the same thing.
But ya'll, MW's Warzone is the best battle royale around. It's a free-to-play mode where you don't need to buy the base game to play, and it's available on all non-novelty consoles and mobile. Unlike the previous Blackout mode in Black Ops 4, Warzone loses 0% of the classic COD formula, making it super easy to pick up and play

There's no learning curve, at all, and that's HUGE. You don't have to learn finger gymnastics to build walls or to pick up and swap weapons; everything is just easy to do and ubiquitous. This means you can focus on chatting with your friends and play without over-analyzing which of your 5 scope attachments you should use on your side-arm that you'll probably not live long enough to use anyway.

Oh, and when you do die, eventually, you'll have a chance to respawn in the same match in the Gulag. Warzone is a goofy, and awesome blend of the old COD we all love and the new form of battle royal shooter. Rejoice new fans and old.

4. Cross-Platform Multiplayer!

I super appreciate being able to play with my friends even if they're on inferior home consoles. There's not much else to say besides I wish they'd let you enable cross play but exclude PC players because going against a mouse and keyboard user with their FOV set to 1 billion degrees isn't a great experience. Plus, there's that whole PC players are dirty cheaters thing.

I mean, kudos to Sony for coming aboard cross-platform multiplayer after all these years, and this is COD's first time, ya' know? Being able to play with my PlayStation friends that I abandoned in 2015 is awesome so I can easily forgive the kinks.

5. No Season Pass (but there's a catch)

Mmmhmm, the dreaded season pass is gone for good. FINALLY!!! But the flip side is that we're getting less content to start and there's a less bad but still bad battle pass to contend with that I'll get into later. Hooray for progress? This brings us to the top 5 things that you'll probably hate about Modern Warfare. I'll see ya' there.
